Idle Chatter: FCC Gets Sirius, more

-The staff of the F.C.C. has recommended the agency's commissioners vote to approve the long-pending merger of satellite radio operators Sirius and XM, with conditions. [WSJ]

-The Associated Press is trying to set limits on how extensively bloggers may quote from its articles. [NYT]

-More than one-third of NBA fans believe the league manipulates the outcomes of games via biased officiating, per former ref Tim Donaghy's claims. [Ad Age]

-At least nine members of the U.S. Senate were paid advances or royalties last year for books they wrote. (And President Bush is thinking of joining their club.) [WSJ]. □
