Olbermann Makes Primary Finish Count

Just what Keith Olbermann needed -- an ego boost.

Olbermann's MSNBC show, Countdown, beat Fox News's O'Reilly Factor in the adults 25-to-54 demographic for a full week for the first time last week, 477,000 viewers to 472,000.

Of course, it was an unusual week, dominated by news of the Democratic presidential race finally drawing to a close, a circumstance that arguably drove viewership to MSNBC and CNN more than to conservative-leaning Fox. (CNN and MSNBC have both seen bigger gains in viewership through the first five months of the year than Fox, according to Nielsen.)

It's also worth noting that Bill O'Reilly was off Friday night. Excluding Friday -- as well as Tuesday, when both shows were preempted by primary coverage -- The O'Reilly Factor came out slightly ahead among 25-54s, and, as usual, crushed Countdown in total viewers, 2.7 million to 1.3 million.
