Newsstand Notes: Going Out at the Bottom

The March issue of Elle featured the final cover shot by Gilles Bensimon, the magazine's longtime creative director, who, prior to that, had photographed every cover model for more than 20 years. It was also Elle's worst-selling issue since May 2006, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, moving only 285,000 copies. Last year's March issue sold 437,000.

Joe Zee, Elle's new creative director, oversaw the April cover, shot by Carter Smith. It sold 330,000 copies, versus April 2007's 385,000.
