First 'Newsday,' Now the 'L.A. Times'?

Will the tribulations of Los Angeles Times employees never cease? Kevin Roderick and Nikki Finke are both reporting that Dreamworks mogul David Geffen is in talks to take the Times off Sam Zell's hands.

Geffen has been interested in buying the paper since before Zell acquired it, and Tribune Co., in December. The two men had dinner a year ago, after which Zell declared, "I have intention of selling the L.A. Times. Period. End of speech."

Of course, in that same interview, he also said, "I don't have any plans to sell any newspapers," and now he's entertaining bids for Newsday. Stuff happens.
