Legal Fight Erupts Over 'Project Runway' Move

David Boies couldn't get Al Gore into the White House. Can he get Project Runway onto Lifetime?

NBC Universal filed suit in New York Supreme Court today to keep cable's top-rated reality series from leaving Bravo, its home for the past five seasons, in favor of a berth on the women's network.

The Weinstein Co., which produces the show, says it reached the five-year pact with Lifetime only after NBC declined to compete for the rights. Boies, who served as counsel for the losing side in Bush v. Gore, is repping the Weinstein Co. "We believe that this lawsuit is without merit," he says in a release. "While good for the market for lawyers, it is always unfortunate when parties try to win in court what they have lost in the marketplace."
