The Takeaway: Sirius-XM Merger Approved

Portfolio: The Justice Department has given its long-awaited blessing to the merger of satellite radio providers Sirius and XM.

New York Times: That doesn't mean it's a done deal; there's still the F.C.C., and officials there "have offered conflicting signs on whether the commission would approve the merger."

Wall Street Journal: The F.C.C. is expected to act quickly, and, while it's unlikely to contradict the Justice Department by blocking the merger, it may impose some conditions on the deal to placate the various parties lobbying against it.

Broadcasting & Cable: Wisconsin Democrat Herb Kohl, chairman of the Senate Antitrust Subcommittee, says the Justice Department's ruling was "contrary to antitrust law."

NYP: Sirius chairman Mel Karmazin "is still batting 1,000 when it comes to getting deals past regulators.". □
