How Blog Comments Could Get You Sued

For today's Portfolio.com feature, I looked into the legal and ethical implications of blog comments, which have been driving an awful lot of news lately. Here's the most interesting thing I discovered: that blogs such Gawker, which increasingly are treating readers' comments as another form of free content, to be edited, highlighted and praised accordingly, do so at the risk of forfeiting some of their protection from libel lawsuits.
