Tribune Eliminates 120 Jobs at 'Newsday'

The ax has fallen at Newsday. Approximately 120 jobs are being eliminated at the Tribune-owned newspaper, according to a memo sent out this afternoon by publisher Tim Knight (and posted on Gawker.) No word on how many of those jobs are in the newsroom. The Los Angeles Times, another Tribune paper, recently cut 150 jobs.

UPDATE: A Newsday spokeswoman says 25 of the eliminated jobs will come from the newsroom. Also, 120 jobs represents about 5 percent of the paper's total workforce of 2,300 ...
