Primaries Yield Rare Ratings Win for CNN
CNN might be guilty of repeating its slogan "the best political team on television" far past the point of tedium, but it paid off big time: The Time Warner-owned network has beaten Fox News in the primetime ratings race for the first time since November 2001. Who's stupid now?
In the key demographic of adults 25 to 54, CNN average 750,000 viewers from Jan. 28 to Feb. 22, compared to 550,000 for Fox News. Fox, however, did retain the total-viewers crown by a total of 2.22 million to 2.03 million.
Of course, it helps that CNN hosted three top-rated primary debates within that timeframe. □
