Say Bye-Bye to Media Jobs

Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to the media industry workers.

Today, Advertising Age looks at the trend in media jobs, and, man, is it awful. Employment in the media business is at a 15-year low, and down a full 25 percent since 2000. The wasting away of the newspaper sector is largely to blame.

The upside, such as it is, is the trend in advertising and marketing, which is at an all-time high. So if you're one of those 100 New York Times in line to get bought out or laid off this year, you can look forward to a second act as a marketing consultant. Hooray?. □
