-Bob Schieffer, the Evening News anchor beloved for being neither Dan Rather nor Katie Couric, is retiring from CBS after almost 40 years. [NYT]

-The editor in chief of Time Out New York, Brian Farnham, is leaving to join a web startup. (N.B. This news for some reason appears at the very bottom of the column, well below an item about a Conde Nast executive swearing off fish.) [WWD]

-As an employee of Rupert Murdoch, Fox News anchor Shepard Smith has to claim he prefers the New York Post to the Times or Daily News, but he doesn't have to pretend to mean it. [Daily Intel]
