'Cloverfield' Monster Prefers Viacom to Time Warner
I just saw a preview screening of Cloverfield, the J.J. Abrams-produced disaster film set in present-day Manhattan. In keeping with the movie's ultra-secretive teaser campaign, we in the audience were admonished not to reveal anything about it before Friday, but here's a tiny, media-relevant spoiler:
A major plot point revolves around the Time Warner building on Columbus Circle. The structure's north tower has been knocked over and is leaning precariously against the south tower.
And that's all I'm going to say about that. But bear in mind that Cloverfield was produced by Paramount, which is owned by Viacom. Coincidence? Or corporate wish fulfillment?. □
