The Takeaway: Writers Strike, Day 65

Deadline Hollywood Daily: With the Writers Guild of America refusing to cut a deal, NBC has essentially canceled the Golden Globes broadcast, replacing it with a simple announcement of the winners.

New York Post: Studios will lose a lot of money if the Oscars get canceled or scaled back, too.

Bloomberg: Tom Cruise's studio, United Artists, has reached an independent accord with the WGA; the Weinstein Co. is expected to follow suit.

New York Times: The Daily Show and The Colbert Report tried desperately, but in vain, to secure WGA's blessing before going back on the air yesterday.

Huffpo: David Letterman's strike beard is no more. □
