Report: Mort Wooing Brit to Edit 'Daily News'

Remember back a few weeks ago, when I wondered what was going on with New York Daily News editor in chief Martin Dunn's contract? Well, it appears we have a partial answer.

The New York Post's Keith Kelly reports that Daily News owner Mort Zuckerman has been wooing Richard Wallace, editor in chief of Britain's Daily Mirror, to take over. Wallace, says Kelly, has resisted seduction so far.

It's unclear what such a hire would mean for Dunn, who earlier served as editorial director over another Brit import, Michael Cooke, and who, by all appearances, would be happy moving back into that role. Kelly says Dunn was part of the recruitment effort. Dunn didn't respond to Kelly's query; I'll update if I hear from him. □
