WGA Silent on Leno's Strike-Breaking

It looks very much as if Jay Leno violated the Writers Guild of America's strike rules by writing his own Tonight Show monologue yesterday.

Interestingly, the WGA, which has been quick to denounce other transgressions, and which criticized Mike Huckabee for crossing a picket line to appear on the same show, has yet to comment on Leno's rule-breaking.

Nikki Finke speculates that the Guild is reluctant to appear ungracious by publicly chastizing someone who has been a prominent supporter of the strike. Whether it's trying to put pressure on him behind the scenes may be evident if he backs off on the written material tonight ...
