Fox's Cavuto Fakes Amnesia for Boss

Is Neil Cavuto having problems with his memory? Interviewing his boss-of-all-bosses, Rupert Murdoch, yesterday, the Fox News host appeared to fumble for the name of CNBC. You know, that silly little channel his own Fox Business Network was founded solely to compete with?

"[T]he standing agreement you're talking about is where Wall Street Journal reporters have a contractual agreement with C-, CNBC -- I think that's the name of the network?" he asked. (Huffpo has the clip.)

If it's senile dementia, it seems to be setting in fast, because Cavuto didn't seem to have any trouble recalling it back in May, when he asked NBC Universal chairman Bob Wright about "rumors that MSNBC and CNBC are in trouble."

Nor did his mind fail him on Aug. 7, when he asked Sirius chief Mel Karmazin about promotional spots he'd been doing for CNBC, then admitted, "I listen to CNBC, whatever."

Someone get this man some ginkgo biloba before he forgets about CNN and The New York Times, too.

CLARIFICATION, 4:11 p.m.: It's been pointed out to me that Cavuto does, in fact, have a degenerative neural disorder, multiple sclerosis, which can cause memory problems. I didn't know that; I was merely poking fun at what looked like, and was, an overly sycophantic joke. But I certainly would've found a different way to make the point had I known. Apologies to anyone I may have offended.
