Harry Potter Lovers Put a Hex on Big Media
I can't think of a better way to get 12-year-olds engaged in the fight against media consolidation than this "Rock Out Against Voldemedia" campaign, cosponsored by StopBigMedia.com and the Harry Potter Alliance.
Of course, I also can't think of a reason that you'd want to get 12-year-olds engaged in the fight against media consolidation. Don't they have homework or something?
For those of you too grown-up to read the Harry Potter books, or at least too grown-up to admit it, the campaign takes its inspiration from a plot development in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, in which arch-villain Voldemort seizes control of the wizarding community's media outlets, forcing Potter partisans to communicate via a pirate radio broadcast. Go here to download anti-consolidation songs by The Whomping Willows, Tom Riddle & Friends and other J.K. Rowling-obsessed bands.
