Update: Pratt Won't Star in VH1 Show
It turns out the New York Post's report that former Jane and Sassy editor Jane Pratt would star in a new VH1 reality series wasn't quite right.
Pratt did tape a pilot episode of American Ugly, a show about unpolished women learning about the fashion industry. But, I'm told, the episode was essentially a proof-of-concept demo intended only to help the series get a green light. It's not meant to be aired.
If American Ugly does get picked up, the producers will have to find someone else to star in it. Pratt can't, for contractual reasons; her participation in the pilot was described to me as a "favor."
