The Don Imus Version of Affirmative Action

No wonder pals of Don Imus feel they have a license to start being offensive again: According to the New York Post, the loved and hated shock jock has purchased some outrage insurance for his comeback, in the form of a black co-host.

"The reasoning is obvious," a source at ABC Radio, Imus's new home, tells the Post.

Well, yes. But Imus himself, who mooted the idea even before he got fired from CBS and MSNBC, claimed it wasn't about getting a token black person to sign off on his more provocative racial humor but about adding "some perspective" to the discussion.

The new Imus in the Morning debuts Monday. That show will be broadcast from New York's Town Hall theater, in front of a live audience. Starting Tuesday, however, it will move to a regular studio -- or, actually, two regular studios: For some reason, Imus will split each show between two different studios across the street from each other, reports the Post
