Rutgers Rep: No One 'Benefited' from Imus Slur
Big surprise: A spokeswoman for the Rutgers women's basketball program does not agree with Bo Dietl's claim that Rutgers players "benefited" from being called "nappy-headed hos" by Don Imus. "Their lives were disrupted and continue to be to some degree by comments like these," says the spokeswoman, Stacey Brann. Here's her full statement:
"Rutgers women's basketball is focused on basketball and academics. Simply put - moving on with their lives. Neither the team nor Coach Stringer ever asked for Mr. Imus to lose his job. Mr. Dietl comments are an opinion. He did not see the surge of media that followed these young women from their homes, their classes last April. Their lives were disrupted and continue to be to some degree by comments such as these. To insinuate 10 women between the ages of 18-21 benefited in any way is simply false. They are an amazing group of young women with tremendous futures, on and off the court. Whether they 'benefited' or not would be an opinion."
