Gawker Book Sales Update: 3 Copies Last Week

Since the 9/11 conspiracy buffs out there seemed so bizarrely interested in the pitiful sales of the Gawker book, I figured I'd bring them an update.

As of Nov. 1, remember, The Gawker Guide to Conquering All Media had sold 242 copies, according to Nielsen BookScan, or about 320 copies overall, when you account for the non-BookScan-monitored sales.

As of yesterday, that number had soared to 274 copies -- or around 365 total. And remember, at least six of those copies were a direct result of Portfolio's coverage (or, more accurately, of Matt Drudge's linking-to of Portfolio's coverage).

Will The Gawker Guide break the 400 mark? It's not looking good; last week, BookScan showed only three copies sold. (But that's really four!) Then again, the Christmas season is coming up. I can think of one person for whom The Gawker Guide would make the perfect gift: Gawker owner Nick Denton, who has bragged to several people that he never bothered to read it.
