Subway-Love Kid Shopping Story Rights
You know Patrick Moberg, the illustrator who made headlines after he created a website to meet the cute girl he'd spotted on the subway? Don't be surprised if you see his story in a movie theater soon...or on TV...or in bookstores.
Moberg says he's had "a lot of offers" for the rights to his tale, which has already netted him an appearance on Good Morning America and interviews with In Touch and other magazines. "There's things on the table," he says. "I'm still sort of figuring it out."
What kind of "things" are we talking about -- film, TV, a quickie paperback novelization? "Yep." But the first order of business, he adds, is to hire an agent; he's already taken several meetings. "We're still thinking everything over, trying to organize," he adds.
The other part of that "we" is Camille Hayton, the Australian magazine intern who turned out to be the object of his crush. Moberg says she'll have a stake in any deal he makes.
By the way, a few hours after I talked to Moberg last night, somebody tipped off Valleywag that Moberg was shopping the rights. For a shy 21-year-old who just moved here from Tennessee, somebody is awfully savvy about working the press.
UPDATE, 11/18: Jesus, this kid seriously knows how to work it.
