'Lapham's Quarterly': A Review in Homage

Lapham's Quarterly is the new historical journal of current events from former Harper's editor Lewis Lapham. It is a bold synthesis of old and new, a rare invitation to sustained reflection in an era of mental fragmentation and phony urgency. Curating the timeless insights of minds ancient and modern, it sets the events of our times in a dizzying new context. Lapham's Quarterly will change the way you think about thinking.

Mind you, I haven't actually read it. At the launch party last night, they ran out of copies before I was able to grab one. In order to write my review, I had to borrow a technique from Lapham himself and imagine what it will be like to read, drawing mostly on a five-minute tour of the website. I'll give you an update when I finally get my hands on an issue.
