Should HuffPo Pay? The Debate That Won't Die
I'm not going to get into the whole "Should HuffPo pay its bloggers?" debate, because every time I dip my oar in I get angry off-the-record emails and IMs from my friends who work there, accusing me of being unfair. (NB: It's kind of awkward when the only bloggers who do get checks from HuffPo have to defend the policy of not paying bloggers who don't, huh?)
So instead I'll just point you to the latest salvo from Ad Age's Simon Dumenco, who started the whole thing.
Simon says: "HuffPo's content-for-free policy eventually will backfire because, with no economic strings attached, the most talented bloggers will bail if they don't get a piece -- even an occasional nibble -- of the pie."
Dare I say I agree?
