Tony Snow to Keynote Magazine Convention

Who says the Bush Administration hates journalists? Tony Snow, the Fox News host-turned White House spokesman-turned unemployed guy, has signed on to be the keynote speaker at this year's American Magazine Conference. Larry Hackett, managing editor of People, will conduct a Q&A with him.

The conversation will be on the record -- a good thing, since an attempt three years ago to keep Bill Clinton's AMC remarks from leaving the room was contemptuously ignored by journalists in attendance. A spokeswoman for the Magazine Publishers of America declined to say if Snow -- who left his job as White House spokesman saying he needed to make more money would be paid for the appearance.

In terms of star power, Snow's a bit of a comedown for the conference. Following Clinton's turn in 2004, MPA scored John McCain as its keynote speaker in 2005, and Barack Obama last year. But Dan Rather will also be on hand this year, to moderate a panel on presidential politics.
