Teens Prize Online Safety? Yeah, Right

From the always chuckle-worthy land of proprietary research comes this gem: Hearst, publisher of Seventeen, Cosmogirl and numerous other titles, surveyed 1,000 teens and concluded that teenage girls like magazine websites because they feel safer there than on social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook.

Have Hearst's research eggheads met any teenagers? Not only are they obsessed with making sure they have a new Facebook status update every 10 to 15 seconds, they are also people whose idea of fun is this. Safety is not exactly their top priority.
