New Media Trumps Old on 'Fortune' Power List

It's a bad year to be an old-media executive -- or at least a female one.

Fortune's has produced its annual ranking of the 50 most powerful women in business, and MTV's Judy McGrath, Disney's Anne Sweeney, Time Inc.'s Ann Moore, Hearst's Cathie Black and Sony's Amy Pascal all slid down the list since last year.

Sweeney fell two spots, to No. 15; Moore and Pascal both dropped four, to No. 19 and 46, respectively; Black slipped five, to No. 43; and McGrath tumbled six, to No. 18. Meanwhile, the two media newbies on the list both hail from the online sector: Yahoo's Sue Decker (No. 20) and Google's Sheryl Sandberg (No. 29).

In fact, only one old-media power gal held her position from last year: Oprah Winfrey, at No. 8. Of course it would have to be Oprah.
