Red Flags for 'Life & Style'

The celebrity-magazine shakeout may be happening faster than anticipated. A few weeks ago, after Bauer Publishing raised the price of In Touch and Life & Style by a dollar, I predicted that the latter would be out of business within a year.

Now, Bauer has cut loose Life & Style's editor in chief and consolidated the two titles under In Touch helmer Richard Spencer. And this comes amid rumors that the company will merge the two titles altogether in November, shutting down Life & Style and giving its newsstand pockets to In Touch.

Let's just say the whole thing does not incline me to back down from my prediction.
