Alan Greenspan Gags on Blogging
Did someone slap a muzzle on Alan Greenspan?
The former Fed chairman had announced plans to write a blog for Amazon.com as part of the promotion for his new book, but the blog has been discontinued after a mere one entry. The New York Times has the story but not the explanation. Did someone in the government -- perhaps someone whose name rhymes with "Shmernanke" -- convince Greenspan that pumping his unmediated views into the hysteria-prone blogosphere might not be the greatest idea at a time when the stock market is already touch-and-go? It's not like he's been particularly cautious in his public utterances of late.
Of course, Greenspan still has a book coming out next week. But, as we all know, no one reads books anymore.
