B&N Now Stocking O.J. Book. Thanks, Oprah.

Barnes & Noble, which originally said it wouldn't carry copies of O.J. Simpson's crypto-confessional If I Did It in its stores, is reversing course. The chain says it's because "widespread customer outrage and disgust" has somehow given way to "pre-orders and customer requests."

Gee, how could that have happened? Here's a thought: Did Barnes & Noble realize that Oprah's decision to devote an entire show to the book virtually guaranteed it would be a hit? As I said before, Winfrey can pretend she's merely providing a forum for debate, but giving a book airtime on her show is tantamount to slapping the Oprah Seal of Approval on it.
