Free Cars, For Real This Time

I sure hope the Times fact-checked this story on FreeCar Media, which pays drivers up to $800 a month to turn their vehicles into rolling billboards. It sounds an awful lot like Freewheelz, the company that, according to Esquire, gave out free, ad-encased cars to drivers who agreed to travel 300 miles per week while listening to a steady stream of commercials.

Freewheelz, of course, turned out to be an April Fool's Day prank by Esquire. Hard to laugh at the people who fell for it now, huh?
