Abolish Mortgage-Interest Tax Deduction, But Not Now

Matt Cooper is 100% right, today, when he says that we should abolish the mortgage-interest tax deduction. All his reasons are good, and there are lots more, to boot: I listed a few of them back in May 2005. But of all the times to do it, this is probably the worst. Let's leave this one to the next administration, when with luck the housing mess will have settled down a bit.
