Monetizing the Obesity Theme

Merrill Lynch has a research report up on its website on how best to invest in "the emerging obesity epidemic". Check out Table 5, "Stocks that represent the ML Obesity Theme," all the way from Alizyme PLC through Wild Oats Markets.

"The developed world is getting older and fatter," writes analyst Jose Rasco. "People are increasingly eating more proteins and processed foods, leading more sedentary lives and gaining weight." The number of obese people worldwide is projected to rise to 700 million in 2015 from 400 million in 2005. But every cloud has a silver lining: Merrill Lynch is here to help you monetize that trend. After all, if you don't make money from fat people, someone else will.
