At today’s CloudBeat 2011, hosted by VentureBeat, Lewis Cirne, chief executive of the Software as a Service company New Relic, said cloud computing would eventually kill the corporate sales department.
The very interconnected nature of the cloud means that consumers are becoming more and more self-sufficient. What would have formerly been packed into a high-intensity three-minute sales pitch can now be discovered over a period of time at the leisure of the consumer.
The aim, said Cirne, should be to create a product so pertinent and so irresistible that customers self-actuate promotions in the form of a tweet. No salesperson necessary.
