Health Reform 101

Senate Democrats worked quickly this morning to pass President Obama's health reform bill on a 60-39 party-line vote.

There are a number of lessons learned through this year's long debate. Showing he understood the mistakes of Bill Clinton, Obama used his mandate to push the massive legislation through Congress.

We learned that Washington can't cut costs while delivering improved coverage and quality of care. There are too many political minefields.

We also note that small business isn't getting the help it needed from reform and that changing the way we pay doctors isn't a simple task. Finally, with their seat at the table, the drug companies have a big hand in shaping this debate.
