Merry Marilyn Minter
In the alley outside the opening of The Crown Jewels at Salon 94 Freemans last night was a Marilyn Minter Christmas tree lot modeled after the ones that pop up on various stretches of city sidewalk this time of year — only chicer. The trees were not real, needle-bearing trees, per se, but rather giant stickers of the traditional tannenbaum, complete with peel-and-"hang" ornaments. Each tree comes neatly packaged in a record-sized envelope and — bonus — the tree and its parts are reusable. (An updated version of the artificial, pre-lit conifer.) The tree and ornaments are $180. If you want a stick-able star to top it off, you'll pay another $25. All that's missing: The smell of a freshly-cut fir.
