Artworthy
Artworthy is a recurring feature that calls out exhibitions, fairs, and/or other art world events worth your precious weekend time. This weekend's pick:
New Yorkers who forwent Miami mania, you might want to skip the Chelsea gallery stroll this weekend, which requires a lot of walking outside in this inclement weather, and opt for the Met uptown, where you could spend a good portion of your day inside. The museum's galleries for 19- and 20th-century European painting and sculpture reopened this week, boasting an additional 8,000 square feet of space (known as the Henry J. Heinz II Galleries) in which to display the Met's trove. Even seasoned museum-goers will have never seen the Lucien Lévy Dhurmer-designed Wisteria Dining Room before. Since the Met bought the French art nouveau interior in 1966, it's been in storage. Read Carol Vogel's write-up of the room in the New York Times. You'll also find familiar friends — Manet, Monet, Renoir — hanging on the walls.
