"Santa's Ghetto" in Bethlehem

In the town of Bethlehem, just across from the Church of the Nativity, there lies not a manger with the baby Jesus, Mary, and the three wise men, but rather Santa's Ghetto, an exhibition reportedly masterminded by Banksy and organized by Pictures on Walls, the print-maker that sells the graffiti artist's work. Usually set up in London's Oxford Street, this year Santa's Ghetto has made the trek to the holy land and taken over what the show's website calls a "former chicken shop" and the Independent a "fast-food shop" in Manger Square, ostensibly to draw people to the tiny town in the West Bank and raise awareness of conflict in the area.

In addition to Banksy's visual witticisms, visitors can pick up stocking stuffers from a host of other artists.

Any readers who plan on making the pilgrimage to Santa's Ghetto — which appears to have opened today and run through Christmas — are called upon to contact Figure Painting.
