Art world veteran Alexandra Peers, writing for Portfolio.com, sums up this season's major sales in New York.
You can also read her take on the individual sales--November 6 at Christie's, where she points out that Russian buyers were missing; November 7 at Sotheby's, when things seemed shaky after a stock market slump; November 13 at Christie's, where Warhol's Liz sold for $21 million; and Sotheby's November 14 blowout, which saw Francis Bacon's Second Version of Study for Bullfight No. 1 go for $45.9 million.
