"It" Bag Inspiration
In the latest pairing of a high-end fashion house with contemporary art stars, Chanel has asked Sylvie Fleury, Sophie Calle, Yoko Ono, and Stephen Shore (amongst others) to create work inspired by the luxury label's signature handbag. They'll be shown as part of Chanel's "Mobile Art" project, a roving exhibition in a Zaha Hadid-designed structure. A note to those readers with an interest in teasing out trends: Takashi Murakami's retrospective at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, featuring a controversial Louis Vuitton boutique selling Murakami's merchandise for the brand, opens on Monday.
