The Stolen Goya

There's a laundry list of art world dramas that play out in the public eye before everyone loses interest. Where's Dora Maar, I asked earlier today? What about Andrew Lloyd Webber's Picasso? Did the Gee's Bend quilters get what they wanted from Bill Arnett? Remember when that Goya was lifted from a transport truck parked at a Howard Johnson in Pennsylvannia on its way to the Guggenheim in New York? That last one resurfaces today with the news that Steven Lee Olson, a 49-year-old truck driver from Carlstadt, NJ, was charged with the theft of Children With a Cart yesterday after being arrested at his home on Tuesday. Olson's defense? He just "found it" in his basement.
