An Editorialized YouTube for Video Art

A friend recently asked us what was the point of buying video art if you can't even display it in your house. We explained that, in fact, you can, and he countered by pointing out the potential nuisances of having sound and moving images playing on loop while you were going about your day — or having guests to dinner. Point well taken.

A new Hamburg-based website is offering an alternative, scouring the web for video art posted on sites like MySpace and YouTube, selecting what it deems worthy, and posting them on Oh!TV. Artnet.com pointed us to the site here. It appears that artists like Olaf Breuning (follow Breuning's link for a good laugh) and Jonathan Meese might create works specifically for the site.
