Grading the Grand Tour
When we talked to Chrissie Iles, a curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, about the once-in-ten-years convergence of Art Basel, the Venice Biennale, Documenta, and Sculpture Projects Münster late last month, she said:
"I think you can always tell whether or not an exhibition is great by how many artists are milling around it."
We're curious to test out this barometer of exhibition excellence, so those of you on the Grand Tour circuit, as the exhibitions are being marketed, tell us which artists you saw in Basel, Venice, Kassel, and Munster. You can report your sightings in a comment or e-mail them to callen_bair@condenast.com.
