French politician Renaud Dutreil, who fought for small businesses and industrial innovation in his native country, has been made chairman of the North American arm of LVMH. (WWD)

Nine West and New Balance will develop a new line of "stylish-yet-casual" shoes called "New Balance for Nine West." The line will feature roughly twenty styles and debut in spring 2009. (WSJ)

Rugby.com, online home of Ralph Lauren's lower-priced, youth-oriented line, will launch on August 12th. David Lauren, senior vice-president of advertising says, "The target is 26 years old. It has a collegiate sensibility." Someone is doing his job right, as the clothes do seem to reflect the sensibility of a 26-year-old who's still in college. (DNR)

Lanvin debuts denim collection manufactured by Swedish brand Acne; 40 pieces for men and women include a trench coat, dresses and jeans, all available in stores come November. (LA Times)
