Coach Ahead of the Game
Even hardcore shopping women are making sacrifices in the current economic climate - but Coach bags are not among their sacrifices.
Reasonable prices and savvy design are contributing factors in Coach's constant success: profits climbed for the company this quarter 32.9 percent, according to today's WWD. Coach posted profits to $213.5 million, compared with $160.6 million a year ago. The company, with its whimsical advertising and trendy use of color, has always been a staple of middle American women, but is making inroads into more urban sophisticates and working women, who no longer feel comfortable spending thousands for a brand new bag.
And Coach expects to addional growth in the next few months.
