DeBeers Profits Plunge (WWD)

Net profits at De Beers SA fell 9.7 percent during the six months to June to $316 million, compared with earnings of $350 million in the same period last year. DeBeers said the decline was due to an increase in tax rate this year, and a class-action settlement in the U.S.

Revlon Gets a New Oscar Winner (WWD)

Adding to a stable of celebs that has included Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, and Susan Sarandon, Revlon inked a deal with Oscar winning actress Jennifer Connelly to be one of their new faces in their ad campaigns.

A Blass From the Past (Fashionweekdaily.com)

Designer Peter Som will indeed be leaving Bill Blass, which was reported on Friday - but he's contractually obligated to stay through the spring 2009 showing in Bryant Park in September
It is said that Som is working furiously to find a way out of his contract.

Whole Shoes (Fashionweekdaily.com)

Whole Foods Market has partnered with TOMS Shoes to produce eco-friendly vegan footwear that will be sold in food store, and also distributed to poor countries around the world.

Chaiken Sets its Heart on San Francisco (WWD)

Chaiken CEO Julie Chaiken, owner of the contemporary line she founded in 1994, is closing her NY showroom and moving all operations to San Francisco, where the company will now be based. She said the move comes so she no longer has to travel between N.Y. and S.F., where she has two small children.
