Our favorite high-profile merging of fashion and flash is kaput, as Francois-Henri Pinault and Salma Hayek split. However, Pinault still has PPR to cheer him up. The luxury goods conglomerate's sales are looking up, even though the economy is not.

Diamonds, and rubies, and emeralds and sapphires, are a jeweler's best friend, particularly when they're vintage, or estate, and the customers are young or foreign.
