Time For New Trousers? Vuitton, YSL, Ungaro

One of the constant debates in fashion is pretty versus interesting. The best collections, like Lanvin, combine the two. Marc Jacobs' collections can go either way. Many designers have been tinkering with trousers this season. Stefano Pilati has showed ballooning trousers for several seasons at Yves Saint Laurent. Retailers say they're slimmer when they arrive in the stores. (Many looks on the runway are tailored to be more commercial for retailers). This season Marc tried similar trousers for Louis Vuitton. And Esteban tinkered with trousers at Ungaro too.

It's not my favorite look. But particularly as is the case of Vuitton, it is important to remember that the trousers and even these silly shoes aren't meant to sell.

It is all about the bags. And the latest bags were a nice, quiet shift from the loud Vuitton bags of late.
