Paris Fashion Week: The Highlights + Alexander McQueen
Paris fashion week is in full swing but I would be very surprised if we see another show that surpasses the one by Alexander McQueen last night. McQueen was the last of the emerging brands at Gucci Group to break even, but he did it without compromise. His collection last night was as strong as it has ever been and fulfilled the purpose of showing what his brand is all about -- the most fantastical clothes around. For exhausted fashion editors and retailers it was a much needed boost of adrenaline.
Another highlight of last night was the concert by Amy Winehouse at the newly renovated Fendi store on Ave Montaigne. Neither are included in the slide show I promised my editors a for the weekend. So here are some of my takes on the highs and lows of the week up to Friday morning. But I'll be writing more on Paris for Monday. □
