Halston, Sold Out

The revived Halston brand may have left a lot to be desired, at least from the vantage of point of fashion writers sitting in the show, but the shopping public shows signs of a different reception. Net-a-Porter.com decided to sell the pieces from the new Halston line before his show Monday in New York. Shirt dresses were priced at $1,495; evening dresses at $1,795. The site sold out of all its small sizes (size 6 and below) on the day the pieces went up for sale. "I think it's excitement about the brand," Natalie Massenet, the former fashion journalist who runs Net-a-Porter, told me. "Orders came in from all over the world." Massenet also said the number of visitors to the site doubled since the Halston promotion began, but she didn't offer specific figures. To get a sense of what Halston is showing and my review, check my post from yesterday. □
